Agnes Studio, formed by Danielle Rini Uva and Lizzy Lee in 2009 (and named after their mothers), is a collaborative graphic design studio based in midtown Cleveland. Along with our clients, we partner with architects, writers, industrial designers, web programmers, photographers, and video producers to create comprehensive brand identities, signage, packaging, exhibitions, websites, print and digital ad campaigns, publications, and public art. Our work is part research/part intuition/part play. It is especially fulfilling when we create smart, conceptual design—visual languages that can be implemented in multiple ways to reinforce a message, supporting our clients’ endeavors.
Agnes Studio is a member of the American Institute of Graphic Arts and followers of The Designers Accord, a global coalition of designers, educators and business leaders, working together to create positive environmental and social impact.
Before starting Agnes Studio, Danielle Rini Uva was the Senior Designer at the Museum of Contemporary Art Cleveland from and Art Director for the grant-winning web publication Hotel Bruce. She received a BFA in Graphic Design from Ohio University and worked as a graphic designer at firms in Chicago and Cleveland. Danielle periodically teaches Graphic Design at the Cleveland Institute of Art and Cleveland State University. She has received design awards from AIGA, The American Museum Association, and Ohio University. She has served as the Graphic Design Visiting Critic at Ohio University, as a Juror for CIA’s Student Independent Exhibition, and as a speaker on design for preschoolers, junior high classes, and college students alike.
Katie Parland is a graduate of the Cleveland Institute of Art. After receiving her BFA in Communication Design, she began working with Agnes Studio until 2013. Currently, she lives in Durham, NC, where she works as an in-house designer by day, and builds her freelance and studio practices by night. Katie was selected as one of Graphic Design USA’s Students to Watch in 2010. In 2014, her work was highlighted by the folks from FastCo Design and Vogue. She has won AIGA awards in the student and professional design categories, participated in design conferences in the South and Midwest, and she shows her work and collaborates as often as she can. Katie likes to run with her dog Stevie Nicks, can make you a killer cup of coffee, and loves Cleveland.
After years in Cleveland, founding partner Lizzy Lee returned home to the east coast. We visit during our annual studio retreats at the ocean.
